Toronto is a city of neighbourhoods which reflect the diversity of its culture. These neighbourhoods include the surrounding communities making the Greater Toronto Area one of unequalled vitality and opportunity in Canada. This is a city built on the diverse contributions and perspectives of 5.6 million people, nearly half of whom were born outside of Canada.

In addition to the lectures, clubs, performances and sporting events at the University of Toronto, students from all campuses immerse themselves in everything the GTA has to offer. Expand your mind with international art, film and music festivals; performances at the Living Arts Centre and Massey Hall; exhibitions at the Ontario Science Centre and the Royal Ontario Museum; the best of professional sports at the Hershey Centre, Rogers Centre, Air Canada Centre, Ricoh Coliseum and BMO Field; and expand your palate in Kensington Market, Chinatown, Little Italy, Middle Eastern shawarma shops, Sri-Lankan restaurants, Ethiopian grocers and an abundance of cafes.

The Greater Toronto Area is home to theatre companies, publishing giants, national research centres, fashion designers, entrepreneurs and the largest LGBTQ Pride community in Canada. It’s a region with professional hockey, baseball, basketball, soccer and football teams, and it’s home to many creative thinkers and leaders. Many of these people are U of T alumni, faculty and guest lecturers who could become your future employers, colleagues, mentors and friends.
